  • Leveling brass ferrule?

    Hi,

my ferrule (brass, 8.75mm) is slightly domed and has a little dent, guess it needs to be leveled.
Any good way to do it myself or should I take it to some cuemaker right away?

        As Jim said.
If you rest the cue on a bench or kitchen unit you only have to keep the block level.
Shouldn't be beyond anyone if you do it slowly and have a reasonable level of co-ordination!

I use a flat bladed needle file, cue on bench and don't rush it.

Tape some sand paper to a bench, hold the cue vertical move the whole cue to sand, best way of getting a perfectly flat square tip.

Invest in a boxwood cue tipping clamp and file. That will get the ferrule level and rid it of any doming.
When you but cheap... You buy twice !

top grade wood file, no 1 i think, and thumb down and rotate. otherwise a razor blade, the same motion, rotate with the blade down and it will level. and next time just replace the tip before it gets so low.
