  • Mike Hallett enteres Q School

I have just been told that Mike Hallett has entered Q School this year.

Mike competed on the main tour for 10 years and reached a ranking position of 6th, more recently you may know his work for commentating for SKY.

Great news although I don't think

I hope it spurs Hendry to make a return as well.

Never realised he got so high up the rankings, always seemed like a player that should have achieved more than he did.

I'd be suprised if he gets through Q School. Too many good young hungry players...besides if we are going from his commentary if he ever leaves anybody a long pot it will be frame over in his mind

I have been practising with him over the past 6-12 months or so, on and off. He is still a quality player who can mop up with ease. It will be interesting to see how he copes with the younger lads breaking through. He does have experience on his side although this has to stand up against their no fear approach, and he must have plenty of match scars to contend with.
A funny thing happened when we played a couple of months ago...We played a frame where i needed to clear with 50 something for a respotted black. I won the toss and said to him 'unlucky Mike!' I then proceeded to cut the black into the left corner! His face was a picture and i was a cheeky ???????!!!
It does baffle me why the pro's don't take this shot on though. As usually if you do miss it, the black goes safe 9/10!
Whenever i watch eurosport and Mike is commentating i'm forever saying to myself 'i've had a ton against him' . Though my excitement is quickly diluted by his 'water off a duck's backside' reaction! lol.

I just wished I was commentating on his match... he, and Joe Johnson, are the most overly critical commentators on Eurosport. Lets see if his frames are up to the faux standard he paps on about on Eurosport.

As far as his chances are of qualifying..... none, IMHO

I liked him as a player and I like him as a commentator. McManus aside he's the best on Eurosport by a week.

From what Stephen was saying today there is zero chance of him making a return
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

difference between practice and match play a professional will wipe the floor with most amateurs even when 70
