Looks interesting, lovely bit of ash. Never heard of them though.

I saw one once on e-bay , perhaps it was this one . I thought they were made by someone like yourself or Jim i.e. one man band , out of a shed. Certainly its not a common cue , I have a feeling it was regional , perhaps Midlands , E.Midlands , N.W , area.

They used to put a small advert in the snooker magazines such as Snooker Scene, around 1985-86 if I recall correctly.

I used to own a laurel cue. It was a 3/4 butt join bought around 1988, It was a very well made cue. I think it was made by a guy in yorkshire but can't remember for sure.

It looks a very nice cue who ever made it , it has the stubby finger splices, if that's the right term, just the way I like them.

From what I can remember, Laurel Cues were made by Dave Brown (Craftsman Cues) when he first started out making cues.

I think this might be true -

Could be earlier than dates suggested i.e. 1985/86/88 as I know Dave was putting a white badge made of Holly on his cues around about 1985 . Unless he used two different badges , I will ask him next time I am up there , unless the mystery is solved beforehand.

the adverts for Laurel cues that I can find are dated 1985 to 1986 based out of Church Fenton, N.Yorkshire
in the Cue World 1986 Sept, there is a Laurel advert alongside a Craftsman ad

I had Laurel make me a cue back around 86-87 He was indeed working out of his garage in Yorkshire.
Can't for the life of me remember his name sorry but I don't think he was with Craftsman.
Cue stayed straight for about a week I remember that though lol
