  • My New BCE Westbury

Well guys my wife says this is my last table.... I am going to bring this table back to like new condition. I will post new photos as things progress.
Does anyone know where I can get a BCE Name plate? Also I want to put new pocket leathers on from BCE in the UK which are stamped with BCE on them. The big problem I cannot setup an account because Canada is not listed. Does anyone live close by BCE / Riley head quarters that I could pay to get them? I can email you a wire transfer.

        Les:

I can help you out with payment for the pocket leathers if you don't have a paypal account for overseas payments. No problem. If sent as a gift the cost is very low.

They are along the wall they just did not make it into the photo. I have posted a couple new photos below one rail and the end skirt. A pile of work but will be worth it in the end.

I don't think I have ever seen Mahagony like this before, so hard so heavy and the grain is fantastic. Can't wait to rub it down with stain but not sure what colour yet. I still have one thing to figure out and that is how I am going to strip and sand the eight turned legs. I have ordered new brass tournament rails and nets and working on new BCE Learhers.

Some of the mahogany used in old tables in unbelievably dense! I was amazed how heavy the legs are on mine. The density means that steel blocks would make little actual difference.

Sanding the rounded bits is just a case of a lot of elbow grease!

I think that stripped version looks really nice as it is. Have you considered just applying some sort of clear varnish to protect it, yet maintain the natural look?

Yes each time I complete a peice I can picture it all setup and playing on it.
Tonight I went over the completed peices with 220 grit then decided it was time to relax so I spent the night polishing all the original solid brass rest hooks. I spoke to my cabinet guy today and we have decided that I will stain everything then take it to his spray booth where he will spray a coat of sanding sealer then two coats of laquer to give it a fine furniture finish.
