  • Ton Praram Beyond review

As I'm not on Facebook I promised Jack I would do a quick review on here. Received cue today and had a quick knock tonight. Very impressed! Nicely balanced and responsive and definitely feels quality.

The whole process from initial email enquiry to cue arriving at my door took 10 weeks for one of his top range Beyond cues. Jack replies to emails all the time, normally within a day and mostly within a couple of hours and his English is superb.

Cue specs are spot on, level splices, oil finish and the shaft finish is glass smooth.

Cue was £240. Postage to mainland UK would have been £50 but for me I had to use UPS which was £120. No taxes to pay though so a cue of this quality delivered for £360 all in is pretty impressive.

I know someone who exchanged and done a straight swap for a exquisite cue for one one of these ton cues and he said the ton all in all is so much better, I am always biased with Thai cues and really think they deserve so much more credit

Nice Cue that m8, the way most Sellers get around without paying Import Duties and VAT is they put Gift or Repair on Parcel.

Very nice cue GG. I wonder when the cues will be ready that were ordered for members on here, seems like a long time since the order was placed?

They are getting there and we are only at the 9 week stage counting by fingers . They were at the weighting stage last week so I was informed by Jack.

That's not always the case, Gazz
Jack send our cue, also as a gift. But we had to pay VAT anyway !!!
I think it is regulated differently in each country.

could it not be VAT, yes; Import Duties, no?

not that I condone any illegal methods of not paying taxes!

I did a little, well quite, a bit of research on this as I did not want to be quoting prices which I'd always honour but then be out of pocket on the duties and tax bill.

There is 0% duty of billiards cues for import in to the UK however VAT is payable at 20%. With the volume of cues coming to the UK regularly from the same sources with practise of sending as a gift is dubious in my eyes, the Thai are lovely hospitable people but known gifters of cues to their poor counterparts in the UK they are not.

I am paying VAT on the order that I have placed, I am happy to do so and will not risk my personal standing for the sake of £18-£80.

Fair exchange for living in a country that enables me to make regular non-essential luxury purchases.
