  • First tournament win for national finalist

NATIONAL junior snooker finalist Jack Harris continued his remarkable year by claiming a first tournament win on the EASB Regional Junior Tour Midlands.

The 15-year-old from Walsall pocketed £100 after defeating Robert Jones 2-0 in the final of the fourth leg at Golden Cue, Bilston.

“I felt like a cued well throughout the day and specifically played well in the knockout stages,” he said.

Rankings leader Chae Ross (Leicester) crashed out on the group stages, but had the consolation of collecting the £15 high-break prize for a run of 69, and was replaced at the top by Riley Parsons (Cannock), who went out 2-1 to Jones in the semi-finals.

Third-placed Harris takes on 15-year-old Mark Lloyd (Gosport) in the final of the English Under-16 Championship in Stoke during the weekend of May 2-3.

“I’m excited,” he said. “I feel like I’m prepared and I think that it will be a good final.”

The fifth leg of six is at The Winchester, Leicester, on Saturday, May 9.
