  • Shaft lengthening...

No this isn't a spam email for some magic pills!

On a 3/4 cue is it possible to resplice the joint end of the shaft to add an inch or two? Or is it more sensible to have a new shaft made?

What sort of price is a new custom shaft?

    Cheers.

Yes its poss but the joint pin would need to reach back into the original shaft and it would add a fair bit of weight

I just asked John Parris for a quote on a replacement 3/4 shaft, he quoted £330 plus delivery. For that price I'd rather sell my shorter cue and buy a new cue or find a second hand Parris.

A while ago, 4 years, I rang JP for a quote on getting a shaft for my 3/4 ultimate with pool specs as I didnt want to alter specs of snooker cue,. Was quoted £450.
        Bought another cue.

Take a look at Mastercraft cues website, they have a cue repair section that says £85 for a new 3/4 shaft.

Thanks guys, those Parris quotes are insane. I'll do some more research...

Splices on shaft can be removed and replaced while adding length. All quite easy really and if you take it to someone who knows what they're doing, it shouldn't be a major problem at all to get done.

Can speak for costs from various makers / cue docs, but shouldn't be more than £125 if using the existing shaft.

That's a lot more encouraging. Thanks.
