  • Heathcote Hoovers up in Northampton

THE 2015 European Under-21 Championship finalist recovered from a “really bad start” to win the fourth leg of the EASB Premier Junior Tour.

Louis Heathcote, known as Hoover, collected £250 after accounting for first-time finalist Sam Betts (Norwich) 4-3 at Barratts Snooker Club, Northampton.

The 17-year-old from Leicester lost his first round-robin match 3-1 to Londoner Peter Devlin and qualified for the knockout in second place.

A 3-1 victory over another Leicester lad, Joe O’Connor, in the last-16 meant Heathcote returned the next day for the final stages feeling confident.

And he recorded 4-1 successes over Will Lemons (Sheffield) and Luke Garland (Dudley) to reach the final.

“I got off to a really bad start,” said Heathcote. “(But) I felt really good and played well on the Sunday to win it.”

Brandon Sargeant (Stoke) collected the £25 high-break prize for a 116 against Devlin in the last-16.

The fifth leg six is at Jesters Snooker Hall, Swindon, on the weekend of May 9-10.
