  • Pro cue weight list

I remember seeing a thread that had a list of the leading pros and the weight of their cues and now I can't find it again. I have used the search feature for ages with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. And no, I don't want to copy any of them for my own cue, it's just driving me crazy because I can't find it...

Yes you are correct but I too can't find it. The ones I know are both modern and old.
Stephen Hendry - 16 ounces (7 world titles). Now uses an Acuerate cue at 17.2 ounces.
    Ronnie O'Sullivan - 18 ounces (John Parris)
Shaun Murphy - 17 ounces (not 100% sure)
Steve Davis - 17 ounces (6 world titles). Changed to a heavier cue in the early nineties.
    John Spencer - 15 ounces
    Ray Reardon - 16.75 ounces
Alex Higgins - Used many cues usually around 17 ounces
    Joe Davis - 16.5 ounces
    John Pulman - 17 ounces
Cliff Thorburn - 16 ounces (not 100% sure).

I'm sure others can fill the gaps.

Thanks mate, much appreciated, you would make a better Sherlock Holmes than I would. I know the list I saw had Mark Williams in it, but not sure about a few others.

i heare ron learnt his craft on a 15.5 oz cue, nothing like developing your cue action on a light cue

Can you remember how long ago you first looked at the list ? I also remember Mark Wiliams plus Selby, Carter, John Higgins and a few others, but can't remember the weights.

You're right, it had all those guys listed. I saw it about month ago but that was during a search through some older posts. Now I've forgotten what thread it was part of and have looked through loads and can't find it. It's daft because I don't need it for anything, but this kind of thing drives me nuts.

I'd be interested to know Judd's and Robbo's cue weights (both Parris). I think Judd is on 17.5oz, maybe someone can confirm that.

Shaun Murphy recently commented on one of his video that his own cue was weighting a little less than 17 ounces (58" long and a minuscule 8.7mm tip)
Ton Praram III Series 1 | 58" 18.4oz 9.4mm | ash shaft + 4 splices of Brazilian Rosewood | Grand Cue medium tips

Just found some info for the following:-
Barry Hawkins uses a JP cue just over 19 ounces
Stephen Lee also uses a JP cue at 19 ounces.
                    I'll keep looking
