  • Hustle Kings (pool) Free on PS4

Just a heads up for any PS4 owners. The full game of Hustle Kings is currently free on the store. This may, in fact, be old news, but I only discovered it a few days ago.

It's fairly enjoyable, but the PS4 is still waiting for a truly great snooker / pool sim.

It has a pretty smooth online mode using HKC (Hustle King Credits) featuring quick games and tournaments. The player pays a fee in HKC to enter both quick matches and tournies, so if you have a long streak of losses, you'll soon find yourself skint. HKC can be built up again by playing the computer opponents.

One poor thing about the game, is the lack of response from the cushions. They're virtually dead and give almost no bounce, but the graphics are gorgeous. It's kind of futuristic in appearance, with some very weird looking balls in the offline career mode. Some of the balls look like they're made of glass, and when playing regular 8-ball with spots and stripes, it can be very difficult to determine which are which.

The career is very short-lived - just two levels to work through, with five opponents in each, whom you only have to beat once to progress to the next opponent.

Hopefully Pool Nation will eventually be released on the PS4 (already on the Xbox One) which offers more of a simulation than Hustle Kings does.

    Thanks Billy.

I remember buying this on PS3 and it does look great but I gave up on it as I too found the table too slow and the cushions a bit dead. The physics are also a bit iffy.

It's worth getting I'd say (unless your 500GB PS4 is already struggling for memory ). The physics seem fairly accurate in terms of ball-on-ball contact, but as I say the cushions are horrible and you'll find little improvements in that area, from your PS3 version.

It passes an hour here and there, let's just say that
