New cue dilemma

Hi all, new cue dilemma, looking for a reasonable quality 3/4 cue, can be new or s/h, budget of £200, read all posts until my eyes are bleeding but not really any wiser looking at Peradon York, and Mastercue Rocket at the moment, any more ideas much appreciated, looking for nice finish & value for money, based in Manchester if it helps

yep, mastercraft is a good way to go. Or O'min, and some other good Thai brands. Peradon a no-no. But don't forget Cue Craft, they make some great cues with lovely feel. I'd get a Cue Craft Sherwood, lovely woody, firm feel. Not clunky or glassy like a lot of cues at this price.

Good shout on the Thai front actually. If you're not in too much of a hurry I would definitely recommend looking at Ton Praram cues (currently Ding is using one). Check out their website at http://tonpraram3cues.com/

I emailed Jack last week actually as a friend is thinking of getting one. He quoted me around 5 months wait. But I would suggest it would be a very worthwhile wait.

(Just don't forget about import taxes!)

Well a Series 2 plain ebony model is just £149 on his website - which seems like such good value! Obviously I would say it is well worth upgrading to the "Beyond" spec. But for £149 I am sure you'd be getting a very good cue. Just with postage and taxes a I guess that £149 is going to become something like £200-220?

that is what I was thinking, postage and taxes could punt it over the budget, and taxes are difficult to calculate into your budget.

did I not read somewhere that "billiard cues" are exempt from import tax? anyone recall/know?

I wouldn't pay anymore then £80 for a Butters cue but that's just my opinion

This DOES look like a very nice cue. It just seems like it is over-priced, because this exact cue would be £107 if you ordered direct. But I guess with the wait time, and of course the delivery and taxes you prob wouldn't be far off the £190.

5mths?! He was doing cues in 8wks before, his star is in the ascendency. Congrats Jack!
