  • Maguire changed his cue.

Stephen Maguire has been using a new cue since the world cup in Wuxi or maybe ealier, it is a 3/4 ash cue with plain ebony butt which looks as similar as Steve Davis's old one. I'm just wondering a professional rarely does this, change a different sort of wood? We know that Higgins once used a maximus maple cue in 2013 Shanghai masters and it never appeared in the following events. It's just different kind of raction when hitting the ball using a maple one comparing an ash one and vice versa. This made me recall that i once asked Stephen Hendry few years ago ,he told me both of maple and ash are easy to control. But obviously he fancy a maple one all through his career. Since maguire changed his cue, the only person who's using a maple cue is Marco Fu in the top 16.

Are these cues handmade in Scotland from scratch, shaft and all?

Always wondered why he never came back on here , especially as this place was used as a marketing tool to set him up .

Doesn't sell direct to the public and what i didn't like was that a member on here wanted him to carry out some adjustments to
one of his cues and he wouldn't do it !

Seems to have done alright for himself , as all the Scottish Pro's have jumped on his band wagon .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Why wouldn't he do it? Any reasons given?

He went down the Robert Osborne route and is only selling to dealers in Asia. But irritating imo that neither are willing to take orders for new cues.

i can understand this, however irritating that is.

But to refuse adjustments? this is puzzling.

Didn't he disappear off the forum after SHAFTGATE ?

I do believe it was around that time, although I also believe it was cue-gate. .

Yep, collectively this forum has a very short memory. And the fact that he disappeared after shaftgate/thaigate or IMPORTEDCUEGATE probably answers the other questions asked in this thread. His trade mark !!!! was a stroke of genius IMO but I find it strange that another member of similar name, Raymon, feels the need to do the same.
