What are the details? Prize money? Is there a prize for a 147?

no details as such but there is the main webpage, sponsorship of £1500, so maybe prize break down could be reliant on entry numbers.

One amusing point on that link is the reference to th "Connie Gough" competition. They have misspelt it "Connie Cough" which is quite amusing.

Might be difficult that as still being played!

Does Karen Corr still play Snooker or it is just pool? I was lucky enough to have one coaching session with her in 98 and would have had many more but she moved to America soon after to play pool. I've just been reading how she has never won the world 9ball but been runner up six times so I really hope she cracks it one day. She's won everything else.

1500 total prize money is shocking - world snooker should be ashamed of themselves

We've discussed this before, many times.

There isn't the appetite for watching these events as the standard is so low.

Make the fit ones play in bikini's - see who right then

Also Ms Evens and the Chinese lass knocking in nice breaks - tons and things they not that bad you know. Its a bit catch 22 if the money stays rubbish what women would travel to play in these things and what women will be encouraged to take up the sport and dedicate herself in the future?

But this is all an extra for women. There is the main tour available for anybody good enough.

Do women golfers darts or tennis players play on the main tour - nope.

We obviously have a difference of opinion here - I fully support the women's game and want to see it get more sponsorship to encourage its growth.

Completely irrelevant comparison. I have never played darts but in tennis and golf physical size and power matter so they have their own tournaments. In snooker they can compete on 100% equal terms. Women can enter any competition but the women's events, clearly, debar men.

The point is that if any woman player were able to play and beat the top men she would get enormous sponsorship. The ability has to come first then the sponsorship will follow.

Well you don't need muscle to throw darts and so the comparison is not irrelevant as all these other sports have developed the women's side of the game and so should we.

The sponsorship needs to be able to encourage growth - the standard is already good - R evens and Ng can play very well indeed already - they need more TV exposure obviously because people like you have not seen them enough to realise how good they actually are - exposure obviously excludes my pun about bikinis - My hope is the association will one day run these events alongside the men's at proper venues like the crucible. The game needs broader appeal to develop.
