  • Lifetime supply of chalk?

    I am 59.

I was recently buying chalk and got a good deal on 144 blocks. I think that will see me out.

    Let's hope not, sir.

Seriously, though, you might be surprised how quickly you get through your chalk, mainly due to mates sponging countless free cubes! About twenty years ago Triangle changed their formula and the chalk became slightly lighter in colour and, in my view, not quite so good. Anyway, I had about 120 pieces of the old stuff and vowed to jealously guard them to see out my own playing days.

    There's only a dozen remaining.

I bought a gross of of triangle green in the late eighties (maybe early nineties at latest), along with a box of 9mm Blue diamond tips. I expect both to last me - the blue diamonds because I now predominantly use 10mm Buffalo diamond plusses (if only I'd bought 10mm blue diamonds). I've only used the top layer of the green triangle chalk....but I haven't really used it, I have loads of functional blocks all over the place.

I'm pretty sure it's the darker green stuff.

I am 50 this year. I expect to be okay for chalk.

          I'm lucky. I don't have any friends.

I remember my box of 144 chalks cost me £14.95 back in the day, I'll bet it's gone up a bit since then.

I've just googled the price and it's exactly the same! Twenty something years later!

                  Philip.

How much can you buy a set of Vigma novelty pool balls in China? Something like these, sir?

I don't know and it would only upset you if I found out!

I sourced an iron in China and the difference, in price, between that and a Dowsing was incredible. I can't tell any difference between the irons.

I've heard that chalk will go bad if stored for a long time. Is this at all true? Also, would storing it in a sealed container or plastic bag help to keep moisture out? Maybe this is a non-issue.
The bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

I can't see why it would.

As mentioned, I've been dipping in to the same box of chalk for over twenty years and it still seems okay. It is probably a case of where one stores it as you say, I just keep mine in its box in a desk drawer. The room is warm and dry, though, so maybe a damp atmosphere would have an adverse effect, who knows?

Where do you buy from? I think it has doubled if you buy from Craftsman or JP Sports.
