  • good day help for cue bal speed

hello i want to ask what are the drill do you practice when mastering the cue speed,,like how much power in every shot for positional play. i heard from the club i play one player says he has 1 speed up to 4 speed when striking the cue ball..can any one explain it and what practice routine to do thanks

    There are loads of them.

For example, put the cue ball on the yellow spot and the black ball on its spot. Hit the cue ball straight up the table with the right pace to end up stopping past the black spot but not hit the top cushion. Second shot is a soft shot so the cue ball passes behind the black ball and third shot hit the cue ball so it finishes back in the D.

Another good one is practicing safety play. Put a single red on the corner of the triangle (so to speak) and hit the cue ball from behind the baulk line, clip the red and get the cue ball back on the baulk cushion (or within say 2-6 inches depending on your skill level).

Practicing your break is also good so you get as tight to the cushion as possible.

Practice potting lots of balls at pocket speed, so it just drops in from various distances say 2 foot pot, 6 foot pot and 10 foot pot.

Practice stunning the cue ball dead on straight shots from short, medium and long distances.

Repeat each exercise 1 million times.

Some coaches use a power meter idea from 1 (very soft) to 10 (very hard).

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
    I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)
