  • Removing tips undamaged to use again

I have heard some of the pros keeping a reserve of already played in tips so that they can reapply them to their cue, specifically in the middle of a tournament so they can replace a tip and not require to 'play it in' and can be confident of how it plays.

Does anyone here know of any techniques that will get a tip off undamaged? They way I have always done it is why a stanley knife and I can't imagine that would leave the tip playable again even with some skill and practice.

I would of thought a sharp blade and to sand the bottom before reapplying back onto the cue?

I used to play with a county player who was obsessive about spare played in tips. He used to take hi off with a razor blade as it was really thin and sharp so he could get it close to the ferrule.

If you are able to fit the tip using a lathe then you will be able to take it off using a lathe which is more accurate than by hand :snooker:
