New high practice break of 41 (2 blacks, 1 pink, 3 blues)

    Here's what I have changed.

Cue fully through to chest on nearly EVERY shot.

Pulling back backswing very straight. I have heard of the "slow backswing" but recently realised this can be made to feel natural by thinking straight not slow. Slow and wonky is bad. The slowness is natural if you're u stay still and pull back absolutely straight.

Pause and focus eyes on contact point at back of backswing. I was snatching before.

    Slowly accelerate.

The most effective thing seems to be going through the ball to full follow through. This is getting me straighter, and completely different sound of impact and ball reaction is better- seems to leap off on a perfect stun angle and crisp screw.

I almost cleared colours (never got brown to blue for years for some reason!) but missed an easy hb black and I KNOW I didn't push through)

It's taken me years of doubting my angles till I have seen the truth with my own eyes - if you cue well you will be surprised how good your angles are.

Lastly I also note how I am no longer really aiming - I look at OB but I am just seeing the pot with a vague idea of BOB and my mind and body do the rest.

Oh and another absolutely vital discovery -99% of the time the first angle you see and get down on is the correct one. So many times I get down and think "that's a bit thin", adjust and hit it too thick. Just trust it and cue straight through the ball.

Comments welcome and hope this helps someone even poorer than me, if such a soul exists!

I agree with everything you've said. I've read many forums on tips how to cue, aim, dominant eye etc. But the most important thing is perfectly straight cueing. Doesn't matter how you do it it just has to be done on every shot.

I think the biggest difference between pros and amateurs is that the pros look almost robotic. Their movement with their cue is immaculate and is exactly the same every time without fail. I do think though it takes a lot of hours to master this tho.

        Thanks Snookclops - good post

IMHO - I find if it looks wrong when you are down - it probably is - BUT it is feels wrong it probably isn't !!!!!

I know it is a subtle difference, but either way stand up and start again !!!!!

Sometime you get down a second time and it still looks and feels wrong - RESULT = MISSS almost 99% of the time
