  • Craftsman Cues

    Hello guys.

I was going to order a tip compressor from Craftsman Cues until I realised the shipping was £9.50 for just first class.

That's the bog standard rate for everything on their website. Has it always been this high? That's pretty ridiculous!

Imagine ordering 5 elks for £2.50, to pay £9.50 postage!

    Phil

You have to get in touch with them. I ordered a few bits through the website and they wanted to charge £28 postage on checkout.

After getting in contact they said postage was £4!

Aren't they very expensive from them Phil? The ones from China on eBay for less than a tenner are spot on.

^ It's cheap to order everything from China thanks a a very favourable postal collaboration between RM and China. And of course, Chinese are paid a fifth of the wages or less. Nothing against China, and her people and especially HK are entitled to a future. Folk need to remember that spending half an hour packaging and posting something costs CC at least £5 in labour costs, plus transit. It's a proper business paying taxes and everything else, not a bloke with a shed. Just sayin! :biggrin-new:

I've been sending a few things to a cousin of mine as was unaware of postage costs until the last few days, wow.

We took a look at parcel sizes and if you wanted to sell one brass cue clip on it's own this would be classed as a small parcel as it is 3cm on one dimension and the largest is 2.5cm this means it would be £2.85, shocked the hell out of me.

Couriers as not cheap! How some goods from China are no shipping costs and still a little more than a quid for some bits I don't know how that works! Free postage from China? Told my cousin it would be cheaper for him to get it from there!

^Go with a cheap courier and enjoy the regrets. Tuffnells and Yodel are among the worst I've been hit with from suppliers. I'm willing to swap suppliers and pay a few quid extra now, to avoid the grief they cause.

Yeah I agree if you're ordering a cue and delicate items certainly worth the extra to avoid any grief and hitman costs when someone damages your valuables.

For smaller items I don't see a cheap option that fits a cheap product and still cannot get it round my head that small inexpensive items can be sent from China for a quid, nuts...

                Just an update fellas.

Got in touch with Simon from Craftsman cues and he was shocked with the postage being at £9.50. So I think he's going to update the site at some point.

I sent him a list of what I wanted via email and requested a PayPal invoice. No problems at all. £4.17 1st class recorded.

Think I'm still going to buy a press from China too, to compare with this one!

                  Sounds good.

The chineese one I have is flat both end where as the Craftsman Cues one has a nice dome one end. I have yet to find a cheaper chineese one that has a dome but let us know if you see one.

I have a Chinese one with a dome, I will see if I can find it again on eBay.
Pretty sure it was this one, the description isn't great, but others say flat tip this says round( I think it means domed).

Looks domed. Compared to £36 that looks good value!

                              Not on thread.
What benefit do you get from a tip press?
Never used one and unsure what it will achieve?
I generally use elk master or MW tips.
