Object ball or line of aim?

A lot of coaches will tell you to keep your eyes on the object ball when delivering the cue. Do you guys focus on the object ball itself or the line of aim? Logically I'd say the line of aim would be more beneficial as you can confirm that the white is going down the line you intended.

You look at the object ball at the point you want to hit it.
Not just at the ball in general

Try a search, tetchy subject. You are going to get a lot of conflicting answers. The only answer is that you shouldn't be aware where you are looking.

it is something you have to discover for yourself through hours of practise and is linked to your own personal cueing rhythm. You can't force yourself to look somewhere.

I naturally aim and the line that my cue is going down, so not necessarily at the object ball at all if it's finer than 1/2 ball contact. I don't currently have an issue with my own technique but I was wondering what others two cents were.

I look along the line of aim as well Tom, at least I think I do. I don't focus on the exact spot I want to hit on the OB because I think that can lead to steering the cue, but really I just get down, make sure the shot looks right and concentrate on pushing the cue through nicely.

No problem.

I follow the cue with my eyes coming back during the backswing. with delivery about 2 seconds for the contact between tip and CB, swich my eyes to the contact point of the OB. This gives me the chance to keep an eye on CB in his path to the OB in my eye vision. While my eyes are on OB . It's almost like i look at the OB, but I watch the CB in his path to the OB at the same time.
Few friends of mine asked me to explain it . TBH , i'm not able to explain it. It just happenes subconsciously .
I think it's the same for other players as well ( happenes subconsciously ) . your brain gonna figure out what's best way to do it.

for me when everything is coming together, after setting my bridge and determining where I am striking the cue ball I am looking at a point on the object and striking through the cue ball as if it wasn't there. ( then of course there is the rest of the time :snooker: )
