  • Antibiotics and snooker?

Hi everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced playing snooker whilst on antibiotics?

Before I started taking them I played someone and had 99 and 113 in a best of 7, and in another match that week had 5 consecutive frames with a 50+ break including a 90 odd. Now I'm taking the antibiotics my cue ball is all over the place, I over hit shots by a matter of feet, I can't feel the shots and my long potting is awful.
Got another 2 weeks left on them, don't really want to stop playing in the meantime but at the moment it's so frustrating to play because it's so bad.

Shouldn't make any difference, more than likely what you are taking them for might, two weeks is quite a long course for anti biotics, so it must be quite an infection you have. What are you on? Some are better taken with food.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

absolutely. It causes the lack of concentration.

I should add, some folk don't take to certain anti biotics and if your feeling off it may be worthwhile telling your doctor as they may be able to give you a different type.

Didn't the pain in your shoulder have something to do with that it is worth telling your doctor though, I remember feeling a bit sick on one type( can't remember the name, it might have been amoxicillin) and got another type.

I'm taking ciprofloxacin, and my concentration is non-existent. Not just while playing snooker, in all of my life.
Just to clarify, already been taking them for 2 weeks and got 2 weeks left, can't stop now as that might be dangerous.

Always finish the course. Holy chuff just had a quick read up on those, they are strong stuff, there is no substitute for them, it says they can impair reactions etc and you should take care driving, so I do apologise,it looks like they could be the cause .

Definitely, I'll just have to be patient. It's just embarrassing losing in league matches against people that I would normally annihilate, and people don't realise there's anything wrong with me! Think I'll hang up my cue until I'm better!

                    yes , of cours did.

I had surgery on my shoulder. and i did'nt play at all , at the time.

It was'nt just with snooker. with driving and other things as well.

I did ask for sumthing diff . but that's the problem with doctors ( they never listen ....) . in fact , they talk when they schould listen and they listen when they schould talk

It just sucks, at least I'll be off them a week before I go to the Gibraltar Open!
I think I'm okay with car driving, thankfully I'm a very accomplished driver, I used to do karting before I played snooker, so I don't really need to think when I'm driving haha!

doctor gave me vitamin C pills and advised me to take it. It's good for the concentration as he said . I tok it for few days and it only got worse. I think they gave me wrong medication. Doctors , it's always lots of trouble with this guys .
