Anybody else notice the repair job in Barry's cue just above the splicing?

There's a small mark. Maybe 1" long. Looks like a knot in the wood. You notice it just before Barry gives the cue a wee twirl before feathering.

I've noticed that for ages as had something like that on a old John Parris Classic. Robert Osborne said it was some wood worm(can't remember it's name) but said does not effect performance... just a visual thing.
Cue was slightly whippy but fantastic reaction you got from it.

Ash can have a cast in it where the Emerald ash borer beetle larvae scarred the wood when it was a tree.
