  • 1 piece cues

Hi still fairly new to snooker and still shopping and deciding what cue to buy i notice a lot of pros 1 piece cues. I have my eye on a peradon 3\4 lazer cue. My question ia other than being more of a problem to store is the any advantage to having a 1 piece cue over a 3/4?? Am i right in thinking the only top pro to have a 3/4 is barry hawkins?

1 piece is always better If you can easily carry and handle it

There are a few with 3/4 cues .

But no advantage . I used to use 3/4 cues all the time , but changed to a one piece .

It's hard to explain but it is a slightly different feel between the 2 , and i prefer using the one piece .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Prefer a 3/4 myself, 1 piece is just a pain in the arse to cart about.

Once you use 1pc you never want to go back to a jointed cue. I think many start off with a jointed cue but as you said, the majority of top pros use 1pc and there is a reason for that, they simply feel better to play with.

1pc can be a little harder to carry around but they aren't much longer than a 3/4 length cue and to be honest I think if you are serious about playing you don't mind the little bit of hassle carrying it around.

Depends a lot on personal preference, i have a few 1 piece cues and i much prefer to use a 3/4. So the notion that if you use a 1 piece you'll never go back to jointed is a bit flawed to say the least

                Personal preference.

One isn't better than the other definitively.

I would say one is better than the other if one was guaranteed to make you play better than the other but I don't think this is the case.

If you're relatively new to the game and just want your own cue, pick something you like regardless if it's 1 piece or jointed.

The definitive answer you are after I don't believe exists. It's like asking who is the best cue maker. The answers to these questions are in the eyes of the beholder.

I don't believe many would be able to tell the difference. With one cue it'd be a 50/50 guess but if told to pick out the 1 piece from from a blind test of 10/25/50 cues I certainly wouldn't be able to and don't know anyone who would.

People will advise what they themselves do or prefer which is often just a means of reinforcing their own decision and justifying their own outlay.

Never have any joint problems with a one piece cue
