  • How to store a cue while oil dries?

Hey everyone, just a quick question! when i oil my cue with cue oil, how should i store it for the 24hrs until it dried and is ready for the next coat? Obviously i cant just stand it up against a wall, but the oil would ruin the inside of my case.

    Any suggestions?

I stand my cues in the small corner behind a door, I have the cue as vertical as possible, not allowing the shaft to touch the walls and ensure that they wont slide as the tip is in the crevice of the corner. The door ensures the kids and wife cant knock it.

I hang mine off my living room lightbulb in the living room so everyone can look at it

You can purchase the small plastic clips they use for rack cue in Snooker Clubs on e bay they are very cheap, your local D.I.Y Shop may have them (For storing tools) think they are called uni clips, however the are often metal so cover the prongs in a bit of polythene tube to avoid scratching your cue just screw one somewhere out of the way job done !!!!!!!

If you have a mini butt, just use it. Screw it in the cue, then oil it and store it a corner, as vertical as possible. Simple and efficient.

I don't like those clips as they have marked/scratched a cue in the past.

Which clips Dean? I have clips at 2 heights. One at bench level just for leaning cues for general use and refinishing butts. The other is at ferrule height; neither would mark a shaft as there's no pressure.

If you mean the metal clips that you can push in to make them tighter then yes I've seen them mark cues and rests!
