  • Butt waxing

    Hi there,

I'm trying to refinish my cue and I've sanded down the cue with 400 sandpaper over the whole cue including the butt. I plan to oil the shaft and wax the butt. I would like to get some advice on whether or not I should oil the butt first before waxing, or if I should apply wax directly on the cue butt.

    Many thanks in advance..

In my opinion 400 is no where near fine enough. I go to 2500 on my cues. Yes you can oil before waxing but make sure it is fully dried before applying the wax else it will just be sticky. I'd also rub down gently with some extra fine wire wool between

So one thin layer is enough? How often should I apply wax? Once every 3-4 months?

With a tin that size you'll never need another. It's a nice quick shine and smells good too. Don't even have to buff much once dry.

Use it to polish the car as it was meant too. The polish will dry after a while so be careful. Best to move some in a small container and close the big container

Nice and easy stuff though and mega cheap. I don't use it on shafts though although I have heard of people doing this.

Yellows the shaft with time. Not advisable

Is this the effect I should get after waxing the butt with one coat?
