Tony Glover, Crispian Jones, Exquisite, Jason Owen, how would you rank them?

after playing for nearly 20 years, my JP finally needa retire because of an accident omg...

now looking for a new cue with around £400-500, got these names: Tony Glover, Crispian Jones, Exquisite and Jason Owen, can anyone share some comments regarding these cue makers? thanks a lot!!

It's all down to personal preference . You could like a cue by a certain maker and someone else won't .

But out of the makers you have put up there , i would go for Tony Glover as he has been making cues longer than the rest put together .

Go to Green Baize or look on his website, find a cue with the spec you like and phone Stu and order it.

Don't like to be disrespectful but none of the british cue makers can produce the quality the Thai cue makers are. A maximus Ultimate or a Ton Praram would be a much better buy with that budget.

actually i ve try Ton Praram, the finishing is great but the ash shaft seems fair only... i will find some more to try.

Nope, his Ash is as good as anyone's. Selected shafts from Tony are easily of "Ultimate" cue quality.

No not on the 4 you mentioned. I've only seen Glover cues in the flesh and they are well made cues but the cues I have seen were made 10 years or so ago.

Personally I don't think the quality of ash that the UK based cue makers can get is comparable to that of the Thai cue makers, hence why I suggested getting one from Green Baize. From the pics I've seen of the 4 you mentioned, I think Jason Owen has some nice shafts, though there was a question of where he gets his shafts from, they look too perfect to be ash sourced from the UK but that's only my opinion.

I have owned and played with over the years a Maximus ultimate (ash) JP ultimate (ash) Glover custom cue (mature ash he had at the back of his shop) and a Powerglide Conny (also ash, 2nd edition I believe owned in the family from new and refinished last year by Mike Wooldridge, fitted with a butt joint and black spin ferrule).

The only cues I still own are the Powerglide and the Glover cue. I use the Glover cue for English pool as it was made for me as a pool cue and it's a fantastic 1 piece ash cue with a cocobolo and ebony butt. The Powerglide has a lot of sentimental value but it's a great cue made better by the mods last year, very very responsive always was but more so with the Black spin ferrule. The Maximus was a great cue but it just didn't have the feel of the old Powerglide or the JP cue that I sadly got rid of and do regret it sometimes. I am having Tony Glover make me a new snooker cue later this year and given the quality of the pool cue he made me I didn't really consider going anywhere alse.

Would agree with this statement. I have recently received a cue from Tony Glover, it's a great cue playability wise and aesthetically looks better than most JP ultimates. It was also half the price of an ultimate and was received within 6 months of placing the order. I will try and post photos.

hope i can find a good cue in hk and no need to order from the cue makers, coz i really worry about that s not the cue i want after receiving it omg😅

hahaa i found from the web, Reg Wright Cue, though i hvnt heard before... would it be better than Glover?
