I'd say any electronic salter scale is good enough. They're not expensive. £20 tops

for accuracy you need jewellers scales, kitchen ones dont give you half grammes for measuring out... oops i mean checking ball sizes... :P

Cheers Andy , already bought some . Accurate to within 1G , so that will do .

I want to get a replacement white and black . And Thurstons will try to send you a similar weight ball . Hence the need for scales .

Neil, it's better if you get the scales that are accurate to 1/100th of a gram particularly if you're checking the 1g sets.http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/sis.html?_...72.m2749.l2658
              These ones are ok

You do if your OCD like me lol. 1g sets should be within 1g and not say 1.23g. On a more serious note if your weighing billiard balls the tolerance is a lot less. They need to be within 0.5 between the lightest and the heaviest so scales which round up or down to the nearest gram are no good.

Here's an example. Lightest is the white at 138.55g. Heaviest is the black at 141.85. Difference is 3.3g so set is NOT "legal". The "kitchen" scales which round up and down would report the weights as 139g and 142g. Difference 3g and therefore set is legal. Not a big deal I suppose but I prefer to get things right.

And would be worse if black was 142.45
I see what you are saying, mine were all within 1G, which I suppose could of been nearer 2 ehh
