  • How to make a snooker cue shine???

Hello yall! After refinishing my cue I find it's now quite dull, I used 1200,1600, 2000, 3000 wet and dry then 00 wire wool but the butt looks dull compared to cues I see some of the top cue makers knocking out, so how will I get that finish?

Keep buffing it every week or so and it'll build up a shine over time.

I usually use a towel, if you can get a small bar towel that's about right.

Did you oil, wax or laquer it ? if not do so and buff it like a madman.

Cheers for the tips guys, I've just oiled it after re finishing it again since this post. So I'll leave it over night then buff up tomorrow.

I heard about the paper thing too, I tried a glass which worked well but left a strange feel to the finish

you could buff with a drill, with the correct drill attachment and buffing pad. far less effort and will shine straight away

yes something like that ought to do it. be sure that you're just buffing and not using it wet to apply oil, that would be messy!

They tend to bounce off a cue when I've tried them.

I just use a new duster until I can feel the cue getting hot and give it a lot of elbow grease.

The pictures don;t do they cues I've finished justice so will be using a different cemera in future but you get a better idea from the ebony how they come up if you look further up the cue.

                          You're up my street.

I'm sure I buffed it so much I might have developed a small muscle. I do like a drop of wax on the butt!

Try Tru Oil, it's designed for gun stocks, I'm sure Billabong put me on to it and it works a dream - butt only of course.

I'm sure if you search for it, you'll find the thread.

I actually bought some tru oil ages ago and heard it wasn't that great after all so it's still un-opened. Maybe I'll give it a go. Does it dry well, no mucky residue?
