cue finish

hi all
I'm planning on finishing my new cue with raw linseed oil. I'm happy with this as I have seen cues finished this way. Cues purchased by well known makers appear to have a different finish to the but of the cue.
is a different finish applied to the ebony.

Yes a different finish is used sometimes as I've found, people with really sweaty hands, can and will pull the oil or. Making it rough to the touch.

Extended a cue for a friend and had just this problem with it a few months later.

I suffer from sweaty hands and have had this problem after refinishing a cue. It didn't matter how much I buffed it (and I seriously did) after a session it still went a little sticky.

Wax on the butt, a baby wipe on the shaft and some chalk in the v of my left hand sorted the sticky bit and the cue is now great.

I wonder what affects a newly oiled cue sent to a humid country would be, does anyone refinishing a shaft make any allowances I wonder?

Yes they would do and know I would....
Might use a lacquer or polish...but not heavy, few good costs, lightly sand and finish it with wax.

The cue that I'm about to send off is going to HK, which is why i prolonged the finishing stage to just over 2 weeks making sure the finish is as stable as can be. I finish the butts slightly differently to the shaft but I do this on all my cues.

Do you put additional dryers in yourmix to give you a better chance?
