  • Need a little help......

OK, I am trying to help out an old boy at my club, he has been playing with a cue for a few years that his son gave him, its a Cooper cues 3 piece.
I know, not best quality, and an imported cue. He has a small issue in that he has lost the extension, so what I am trying to get a hold of is either
a replacement extension or even a more modern extendable extension that fits his cue. I have tried Cue Doctor as that is where his sone got it
from in the first place, but they haven't got anything. so I am throwing this out there to try and get one for him.... I have added a couple of pics
below of his mate extension who happens to have the same cue. And yes there is a little bit missing from the end of his mates extension joint.

Please help me try and find something for the old one, as he is getting a bit frustrated having to borrow his mates every time he needs one.
There is cash waiting, but obviously not loads....

    Cheers

    Dave

Is that a spirolock joint? If it is you should be able to find one of those.

      Hi

I thought that as well, but it's a slightly different thread to the h&o and niche cues...
that is why I am having a little trouble finding one...

I could be getting this wrong but there are two types of spirolock joint, the ones the Thai cue makers generally use which is a bit thinner and the one you have that's a bit fatter and was more used by the British cue makers for a short period. I'm sure I have seen other threads about this joint but don't quote me on this.
Had a little rake about, possible folk could be Dave Coutts, Robert Osborne, Robin Cook.

The thicker Spiro looks like this, and does look similar to what you need

Definitely not one of the 2 more standard spirolocs.

I re finished a copper cue for someone not so long ago...
Can still have a look at the cue at the club and will take a look, as there were some on eBay but not sure if they would fit..

Alternatively you could swap the joint out for something more common. I'm sure any local cuemaker would do that and provide any extension you may require at a reasonable cost. Colin (Mr Ninja Cues) did a great job removing and re-fitting the butt joint on one of my cues to straighten it as it was wonky; the cue didn't look like it had been touched.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies, I do think it must be a standard joint,
as I think the end has been broken off from the one in the photo, that
could be what has thrown me....

I think you are right about the end being broken..
