  • Can anybody identify this old cue i found and what wood it's made from.

    Hi all,
I was clearing the loft the other day and found an old cue i was give donkeys years ago, but i have looked all over the cue and i can't find a makers mark or name anywhere, also the wood shaft is baffling me too, it doesn't look like ash or maple.
It has a slight grain in it, but what grain it does have seems to have a reddish tinge.
I am quite certain the butt is made from ebony, and the tip of the cue has no brass ferrule, which makes me think it's quite old.
It seems a really nice cue and feels good to hold as well.
I was toying with the idea of getting it converted to a 3/4 and having a brass ferrule put on it ?
Any info you guys may have of the cue or the wood type would be greatly appreciated, as my cue knowledge is limited.

    the specs are,
    length 57 inches
    weight 15oz
    tip 9/10 mm
    balance point 17 inches approx.
the ebony splicing runs the bottom 18.5 inches of the cue.

i was thinking of getting a 3/4 joint put on and a brass ferrule, and a bit of a renovation and re oiled etc.
to bring it back to life lol, it has been in my mums attic for over 40 years according to my dad.
