  • Tru-Oil On Butt Of Cue

Just wondering if you can use Tru-Oil Gun Stock Finish on the butt of a cue? The butt of my cue is ebony but it has faded a bit and was wondering if you can use this oil to get the ebony back to being darker again and more glossy looking?

    Interesting question, tbh .
I wonder what cue makers on tsf have to say about this .

      Tru-Oil On Butt Of Cue

this has been mentioned in the years past and some have said it works well on butts. It will still go dull after time but will buff up again
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

in other words , this stuff might work , and at the same time, you might get disappointed.

It's quality stuff I have some that I have often used but follow the instructions and do not try to rush it.

Can you use steel wool on an ebony butt and will it not scratch and ruin it? Do you need to use steel wool?

I do often but use very fine grade steel wool dipped in oil.

I've heard mixed results for it and meant to give it a go. I've yet to see something that gives that glass like deep shiny finish straight out of the bottle.

I thought this was it but I'm told it's not.

I guess like most things, you gotta try it yourself to be proved right or wrong!

Aurora was great, angel oil the best. Difficult to get either now.

I liked the Aurora grain filler, still have a couple of bottles left. Not heard of Angel oil.

I'm trying grain fillers at the moment so will fill a butt and try the Tru oil on that so at least can give an educated answer in future; the Tru oil debate keeps cropping up in posts; not cheap stuff.
