  • advice on cue

I want to buy a good snooker cue and I am inclined to purchase the "Black Prince" cue made by mastercraft. Is this a good choice in your view?

It is a decent choice but I wouldn't recommend them over Craftsman cues of Leeds. They make very good quality cues for slightly cheaper, I have seen Mastercraft and Craftsman cues and in my opinion the Craftsman is the better of the two, especially playing wise.

they are all good cue makers , its best if you can try some out before you buy one, don't fall into the trap of buying a cue because you like the look of it, you may not like the way it feels when you play with it.

Well this is a hard one to answer, they are all good makes but it really is better if you can get you hand one of the cues before you buy, because when it comes down to it, it depends on your personal preference on the weight of the cue and everything.

i personally got hold of a John Parris Master Cue secondhand and i really enjoy playing with the cue because of the weight of it and the way it feels. but someone else might not like the feel and despite the price not enjoy using it.
old enough to know whats its all about, too old to actually do it.....

Craftsman cues are really good quality. Having been to the shop in Kippax a few times one thing that stands out is that the man who makes them is a miserable sod!

Yeah I thought that too but as I've only been there once I wasn't sure whether he was just in a bad mood that day. I have spoken to him on the phone a couple of times too and he sounds just as grumpy, still he makes superb cues though.

haha that's cool that someone else noticed too. I think he must have had a bump on the head at some point in his life to be like that.

Well he was most helpfull when I bought my cue from there. And its the best cue Ive ever had, I have no plans of ever replacing it.

The fact that he makes quality cues was never in question

was it Simon or Dave ?
i thought Simon was always a happy fella, meet dave a couple of times ..... you must mean Dave !

your right about the cues they make, very good and great value for money.

Dave Brown i think it is, he is the misery, Simon is usually a happy chappy. On another note, does anyone know why their website is down? Its all well and good us recommending them but if you can't get in touch with them!

I think they are in the Yellow Pages if you need to call them.

Dave may be a misery (of which I disagree) but he makes the best cues in the country, and thats all that matters.

ahh, just checked, they have a new website set up at Craftsmancues.com, looks better than the original too. I was a bit worried they may have gone out of business for a minute there.

no chance of them going out of business , they have more than enough business to keep them going , they have been importing Master cues to sell as they can't make their own quick enough !!

my new site should be finished this weekend , been waiting a long time to replace the old one .
