I have long been a great fan of snooker & I watch every match on TV.
My favourite player is Ronnie O'Sullivan, the most naturally gifted player that ever played.
With every respect to Joe Johnson, a former world champion, I often wish he would put a sock in it.
His commentary is frequently pre-empting the players tactics & telling us how he would have played.
He should take account of the fact that each player is playing his own game, not his & that no shot is "guaranteed"
no matter how simple it may appear.
    No other commentator does this.

Wheres Joe Johnson, was he on BBC...? Cant recall listening to him. I never liked John Virgo myself, Id turn over if he came on. Liked Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry together. Wasnt there a commentator of reknown, Ted Lowe, John Arlott, Brian Johnstone who actually stopped commentating at the climax of a personal milestone, 147, century, somethingorather, grrr, bloody memory.

Joe Johnson is on Eurosport, typical tabloid style reporting, which is more about personal opinions, rather than what actually happening.

Joe Johnson was always a strange choice for a commentator imo. With the best will in the world the Bradford accent isn't great on the ear and old school pro's often fail to be accurate in assessing the shot choices of modern players. Along with Virgo on the BBC Joe is my least favourite. Eurosports Dave Hendon is excellent however, and I like the new influx of BBC ex/pro's like Hendry, Davis, Doherty.
I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.

Yes it's very irritating, I wish he would stick to what is actually happening, rather than what may have, or what might happen next!

I prefer BBC commentary to EuroSport and I don't particularly like JJ but I'll put up with it if there's snooker to be watched.

Stephen Hendry is my favourite at present.
Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

I listened to him again today, too opinionated & too negative, unless he changes tack or gives it up, I will have to watch with the sound off. If he knows all the moves why doesn't he get up & show us!!

Agree Joe Johnson is not the best but I can bare him.
                              Hendry is brilliant, Davis also.

Really loving Ronnie in commentary we all would rather have the guy on the table to watch him but when he speaks about the game it shows he isn't just some amazing natural talent he actually gives great insight into what a player is most likely thinking during a certain shot for break building purposes or perhaps potting a pressure ball he gives great insight and also comes across very humble saying he's learning all the time now by watching other top pro's play.

I think ronnie is without doubt now the greatest that ever lived, such an inspiring player for all of us, being scottish I'm proud that we have produced former greats Stephen Hendry and John Higgins is still up there with the best but there's no doubt now Ronnie stands in a class of his own
