  • Cueing across the ball

Hey guys this is my first thread ever on this forum and my problem is I put left hand side on every shot. I have tried head position changed stance and other things but I can't get rid of it.

For long pots that i have to cut to the left I'll always miss them thin and cuts to the right always thick and sometimes even thin coz of the amount of left hand side (unintentional)

And a more critical thing is that when I am down on the shot I can see my cue is to the right meaning the butt end of the cue is closer to my body and it's straight but straight across if that makes sense. I've tried fixing that but it doesn't work.

Cuts to the left feel very hard may it be short distance or long distance my cue always is to the right I can feel it and I always end up over cutting but generally cuts to the right are easier I have no clue how to fix it and the funny thing sometimes even if I apply right hand side the cue ball still has left hand side so it's so much that even if aim to the right of the white I still put left side I think it has something to do with my cue being across to the right. Hope all that makes sense any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Put the yellow on it's spot and address the tip of your cue to the bottom centre of it from the green side along the baulk line. Lower the cue down on the cushion, hold it there and check if the butt is directly above the baulk line. If it's not then adjust feet position of your stance until it is.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

What about for shots that don't need a proper stance like stretching for a shot or playing a shot mid table by the side cusion nearer the black spot on the yellow pocket side of the table? It still happens to those Any suggestions for those type of shots?

This is the best I could do sorry I couldn't do it on a snooker table as I don't own one.

Cueing and control look very good

Of course easy peasy when cueing the fridge magnets !!!! - Not really the video we need

Next time you get a few minutes at the club on your own - film yourself - rest the Extended Spider on back of a chair and set your phone on the spider's feet. I usually setup in line with a straight pink.

Do a quick lineup, and pot the balls, ignore any misses - then post the video on you-tube

I'm sure we will be able to diagnose you much better when you are hitting real shots

My bad shot is also imparting left side - quite common fault - usually caused by playing around your body, so the cue is taken back inside the line, so it goes through outside on the final stroke - also raising the butt can also cause this (ie hand not working correctly)

But as I say you look good on the fridge !!!!

Seeing as I will never be able to watch you play live I gave you an excellent method of getting the whole of your cue on the line of aim. Some things you will have to work out yourself.

So am I and the baulk line test showed that the centre of the butt of my cue was a 1/4 inch to the left of the baulk line so I was cueing across the ball for years. I moved my right foot a tad to the right and my left foot a tad further back to get the butt directly over the baulk line when addressing the centre of the yellow.
All other stances now follow the correct placing of the right foot and things are much better now.
