Depends on what your budget is really and how seriously you want to play and improve. If you want to improve and be quite dedicated then it pays to get a good quality cue to play with. After all, most of the top pros use quite expensive cues such as John Parris, Craftsman, Mastercue etc. The cues you mention are quite cheap, low budget quality and therefore aren't really good to play with, but are OK for a beginner or player who doesn't play very often.
The cheapest quality cues out of the ones i mentioned are Craftsman, Paul Hunter and a few other pros use their cues. They start at £115 for a handmade cue to the size you want, i.e. tip size, length, weight etc. In the long run it might be a better investment buying a cue of that quality rather than spend £30-£50 on a BCE or Riley cue which you might not like which is a bigger waste of money.

Where can you get them from ?

At my local snooker room they sell riley and bce cues at about £ 80 which look quite nice !

So are all their cues poor ?

I thought that they were a top make in snooker ?

I would recommand you to try the cue before buying it. It would be very stupid to go out and buy an expensive cue it you fell more comfortable with a cheap one. You can't always say the expensive ones a better...

I also think you should go for a two or a three piece model...

What snooker club is, is it part of the Rileys group. If so the prices of their cues are well over-priced and not good quality. BCE and Riley used to be big names but neither produces good quality cues anymore, they are all imported from places like China, USA etc.

Craftsman are in Leeds, they have a website at www.craftsmancues.com, as I said before quite a few pros use them and are very good quality at a decent price.

Just don't go to a big snooker club and buy one off the local professional - you are guaranteed to be ripped off. Go to Craftsman - every cue I've ever owned has come from there

no I go to their shop! Never order cues online, it's stupid - you've got to have a feel for the cue before you buy - hit a few shots - and craftsman has a table in the shop
