  • I'm running a singles league - need some advice

    Hi,

I'm meeting the manager of my local Rileys tomorrow morning to discuss running a snooker singles league. I was thinking the best idea would be to draw players against each other and then they have 2 weeks to arrange a fixture. Does anybody have any experience of running or playing in a snooker singles league? What worked and what didn't? Cheers

Must be. It is an interesting one. The amount of people that could come is staggering yet they do not bother. Yet to hear a viable explanation.

Can only talk about our internal club comps

We play 2 comps per year - Spring and Winter

Each round usually has about 4 weeks lead time

The player draw above the opponent is marked in Red on the sheet - and it is HIS responsibility to arrange the fixture - He has to give the opponent 3 dates/times within 2 weeks

This usually brings up a few disagreements each season

You have to make the rules clear and then STICK to them with no exceptions. The number of times a player has lost and then said well he couldn't have made the final (SET DATE) anyway is crazy

Did a quick search as remembered this was asked last year and forum member Shockerz had some good ideas.

I've run a lot more handicap comps alongside scratch ones this year which seems to have brought a lot more players out of the woodwork. Make the rules clear or you'll be busy with the whiners!!
