  • Apollo Aluminium Cue

I still play pool with a 18oz silver one piece Apollo cue which I’ve had for 50 years. The performance is just as good as the day I bought it. The bronze cues were almost always 2 piece and, in my view, very much inferior.

    Apollo Aluminium Cue

    what oil do you use?
    raw, boiled, or WD?

    any pictures you can share?
I recall the old adverts and even Fred(?) Davis and others endorsing this cues.
    For a fee of course

In the right hands they work, don't warp and make a nonsense of tip end mass theory.
I used one once and it was OK, bit cold on the bridge hand, and with a teflon coating wouldn't get sticky
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

The Apollo cues were initially endorsed by the Great Joe Davis. They were ghastly . The worst thing about them and also the long tackle which was supplied to clubs was the noise they made when used on metal rest heads. I sold one (much to my surprise) to a guy who came for a coaching lesson who just thought it was a fun item. (Each to his own!!!). I even retipped it for him as a thank you for the £18.00 he paid. I have one left in my collection with JD's endorsement note. No doubt JD did all right out of deal as for a short time they were all over the place. First made I think in the early sixties. :snooker: F.

They are excellent for mountain bike jousting though.
