  • is it insane to refurbish antique table?

Hello. I was here a couple weeks ago asking what size balls to buy for a small (3 x 6 feet or so) snooker table. I learned 1 7/8 seemed right.

All well and good, but it runs out the antique snooker table we bought at an estate sale (not knowing any better) must be refurbished completely; the felt is old and the bumpers are dead.
We were told it would cost 500 US dollars to refurbish the table. My husband wants to go for a (larger) billiard table instead and dump the snooker table. I like the size and charm of the snooker table and am curious about the game and hate to give up on it.

So: Is it completely insane for me to contemplate doing the work myself of refurbishing the table? If so, where would I be able to buy the rubber bumpers and is there a web site or source of information about how to do this?

Thanks I apreciate the opinions. We are in the USA so much more familiar with billiards than snooker.

    ps to this

I did find a source on the internet for refurbishing materials, although recommendations are welcome. I see there are books and videos available too. My concern is getting the size of the rubber cushions correct for the replacement.

Then again I do wonder if I should even consider this!

    Thanks
    Andea
