  • History of Snooker DVD

I have the 30 years of Embassy Snooker DVD and have been deliberating whether or not to buy the History of Snooker DVD because in reviews I have read they sound similiar. Is it worth it is the simple question?
    TSF World Champion 2010
TSF Snooker Prediction Contest Overall Champion 2006/07
BBC Snooker Prediction Contest Overall Champion 2005/06

They are quite similar but The History/Story of Snooker is better. It goes back to the Joe Davis era and looks at Pot Black in the 70's, the rivalry between Reardon and Spencer and the emergence of Hurricane Higgins.

IMO, a more fitting title for the "History of Snooker" DVD would be "History of Embassy World Champ finals"...

It is worth a bying. But don't spend too much money as I did.
The Steve Davis extra-interview isn't a real one because most of this 'interview' content is composed of his comments moderating the Story Of Snooker. Charming though.

Of course there are similarities to the 30 years of Embassy Snooker DVD because the noteworthy matches didn't change with the producer. But the selected footage is different, especially concerning the emphasis on player's profiles and interview extracts and, as Cyril already mentioned, the Joe Davis era.

IMHO, it is highly regrettable that so many people believe the history of the Embassy equalises the history of Snooker. If you are going to look into the (modern) history of snooker, there's so much more than that one specific tournament.

i own both and have found they pretty much only cover the world finals, sometimes the semi's lol - however the history does go back to the joe davies era, and has some nice footage of him - it only goes uo to the 2004 final if im right, where as the embassy one goes to the 2005 final with murphy

                - it is good to own both as they both have their onw good points, but as stated dont pay to much for it.
