  • I need a professional help

    Dear fellows.
Sorry to bother u but I really need some help here.
I'm a not a pool player but a Chemistry researcher trying to describe a new phenomenon I've been exploring during the past few months.

What do u call a strike in which u deliberately use 3 balls? that is, the white ball hits a "go between" and he strikes a third ball into the pocket.
I need a catchy name for this "chain reaction".

Any help would be much appreciated.
I'll send u a link to the paper when it will be published.

    Thank you all

Not sure mate. All I can say is a three-ball plant often used to be referred to as a "Triple Charlie".

    Perhaps a "cannon winner" ????

If I understand you correctly you're talking about a basic plant?

Just to be clear, a plant in snooker is when (for example) you have two reds and a white, you strike the white, send it into the first red, the first red then hits a second red and pots it.

In pool I believe the same thing is called a 'combination shot'.

Hope that helps. I'm intrigued as to what the new phenomenon might be, I'll look forward to reading the paper.

maybe he means that you strike the white, send it into the first red, and the white changes the direction, and then hit the second red and the second red goes to the pocket?

Not sure what this will be called

Surely this is just a simple cannon?

A cannon doesn't necessarily imply a pot on the second red though. Maybe that's the winning cannon Cyril was referring to?

first of all - thank u all for trying.
the "cannon" is the direction I'm looking for (winning or not).
                looks intuitive enough.

U R the best and I will let u know.

                  a problem with "cannon"

I checked again and I see that murdock is right and a cannon means two hits by the white. I'm looking for a scenario where the first red strikes the second red. what do u say?

If it's the second red that enters the pocket, I say that's a plant (at least in modern language).

Example of a plant (the shot on the two reds):

id refer to it as a "combination"

(as mentioned earlier in the thread by rob)
