You would need to speak with your area EASB man (sorry to be so nontechnical), which if you are in Hampshire, England, would probably be Dave Joyce or Dave Smith (They are almost always called Dave, by the way).

I will look into it a bit more for you and give you a bit more info. I will be ringing a Dave soon anyway!

Could you shed some light if Mrs Tabb went through the EASB channels or were other means put into action? I remember vaguely from the Beeb board it was not all to the right procedures.

Indeed she was not put through the 'proper' procedures. Well, the procedures were fine but she had an accelerated timescale.

I know of several refs in my area who have been about for 30-odd years (including at least one of the Daves I mentioned above) who might reasonably expect to take precedence over someone who has been qualified for less than half a decade!

Who decides then in the end to be a ref on the pro snooker circuit. What are the criteria? I know from football, you first grind your way into the amateur level. You have to do some examinations for the pro circuit and will be picked by the ref committee if your found good enough. Of course, networking always is involved.

I just want to do a ref's course thing, like the football ref's course. I found nothing on the web. Enlightenment is needed

Contact your local snooker league who should be using qualified referees for competition finals. Someone will know the area Referee Examiner / Tutor.

                  or

                  email secretary@englishsnooker.com

Best bet is to contact your local league. They should be able to help. Alternatively try EASB. They can be found at www.englishsnooker.com

You will start at Grade 3 and work up to Grade 1 then Examiner(if you want).

Also, get a rules book from World Snooker and if possible John Streets book (I think its out of date, try Amazon oe e-bay.

                    Good luck.
You are only the best on the day you win.
