Can anybody tell me what is used to fill chips and joints in the slate bed of a snooker table.

When my secondhand table was set up the guys used something that looked and smelled like car body filler to fill the chips and joint between the slate, I've been told wax should be used. Candle wax

Has my table been set up by cowboys

Many thanks for any help ... Rainman

I saw a snooker table being built in the club I play and they used something that looked like a putty of some kind. It was white in colour and had a strong chemical smell. they applied it using putty knives except more smooth than the ones used for crackfilling walls.

I am a table fitter and what you have described is araldite this should not be used on a table as it is a hard compound the right thing to use is plaster of Paris used by many table fitters
