  • ronnie o'sullivan left handed play

Hi does any1 here has the videos of ronnie playing entirely left handed ? i think it was against alain robidoux(nt sure of the spelling) in 1996.
would u be kind enough to upload it to youtube to share? thanks alot!

it seems like a very interesting game to watch, has any1 seen the whole thing?

Ronnie didn't play the whole match left-handed, it was just sporadic, though he did it more as he approached the winning line.

Robidoux was outraged as it was the first time we had really seen Ronnie play like this, of course it is okay and accepted now...

"Just because I can play better left-handed than he can right-handed!" was Ronnie's tactful reply, it did a lot for Anglo-Canadian relations..
"And slowly and surely they drew their plans against us"

I heard or read somewhere Ronnie has said that if he would play only left-handed he would still be in top 16.Is it true?

I believe this is attributed to him but is actually a comment made by a commentator or pundit. i think maybe Dennis Taylor.

I think he did say that and, to be honest, he probably isn't far wrong.

Especially if you think about the century break he made left-handed in the final frame of his 13-7 victory over Ali Carter in the 2nd round of the 2005 world champs, "That was frightening!", summised an amazed John Parrott.

That should be a link to that break LM ... (highlights video top right)
Whether Ronnie said it or not, I don't know if he could be a top 16 player entirely left handed - look at the problems Jimmy White has had recently staying in the top 64!
On current form would anyone put O'Sullivan favourite against White, with them both playing left handed? An interesting thought anyway.
He did play a full match more or less left handed for the first time in the Matchroom league in 1997, and beat Peter Ebdon comfortably I think, but he is obviously more prone to the odd positional error playing with his other hand and obviously not as technically sound.
All part of O'Sullivan's interest anyway, the what-ifs!

He did say in that 147 programme of his that he wanted to / was toying with the idea of winning a tournament playing only with his left, that that was indeed his next challenge. (Or something to that effect. I'm not quoting!)
Das war ein FLUKE! Ein Glückstreffer!

But who would you say is currently the better, Ronnie left handed or Jimmy?

No idea I think everything depends on Jimmy's confidence - some mistakes and he just stops battling. I've seen that in the Masters this year

on a good day that could be a very close match, no idea who'd win.
