  • cue help :D

    Hiho,

I just started playing snooker properly and have got into the habit of going to the club 2,3 or even 5 times a week. I picked up my dad's cue, which i imagine hasnt been used in over 10 years. The cue is fine itself, but i noticed that the shaft of the cue is a lot smoother then the rest of cue, its lost/losing its shine and its finish then the rest of the cue. I've read around a bit and have heard about linseed oil, to like polish the cue ? or put some sort of finish on it ?

I'd just like a bit more information on whether i should use linseed oil or whatever, im not eintirely sure of the whole process and so i have no idea what im doing. Should i be using something else? If not should how i be applying it, and would i need anything? Some advice would be great,

    Thanks guys

use raw linseed oil .remember raw not boil, after apply the oil and leave overnight, and then rub it with a dry cloth it should be ok then however if u want, u can put bee's wax on the cue and leave it for 10-20 mins after that use dry cloth again .....but u must remember bee's wax got harmful smell, so becareful when u use it....

i suspect it will not solve your problem to use just raw linseed oil - i think it might be varnish ? - you could try 0000 wire wool then raw linseed oil - feel free to e-mail me a couple of pictures if you need any help adr147@hotmail.com

Other products that can do the same as what ADR147 has suggested are Q Smooth (micro fine sandpapers - I swear by mine) and a Cue Shaft Slicker (basically a bit of wool with a brillo pad inside)

yes thats true - just be careful to avoid chemicals in these products especially driers.
