  • Another deliberate foul situation !

Quite a few years ago I was playing a small money match against Paul Lawrence and this happened !!
I was 33 points behind with 1 red on the table, all the colours were on the spots . I've played a very good safety shot leaving Paul in dire straights . He ways up the situation and decides he doesn't have a pot or a realistic safety shot on ? Anyone who knows Paul will tell you he's not in the habit of taking his time , but this situation left him clueless !! After what seemed about 5 mins he gets down and blasts the white as hard as he can into the red, the red flies off the table !
I'm now 29 points behind with just the colours on the table , now needing a snooker , he couldn't have played it better leaving the white in a very awkward place , leaving the best option for me to make him play again !!

Now whats that all about ??????????????

    That's a funny one!

Not for you i guess though. Do you think he aimed to get the red off of the table?

Without doubt , it was the only thing he had on his mind , you could tell by the way he struck the ball .

I wonder what the ref would do if it happened in a televised match .

Unsporting conduct isnt it? Exactly the same sort of thing that happened to Parrot the other day. Maybe the ref has it in his power to call it a miss and have them replaced?

We did have ref , but the ref just said foullll 4 points to Stuart Green !!
I remember being a little bewildered thinking is that right ?
          I was in shock !!!!!!

It would have been nice if the balls were replaced
I might have won the match .

            That is very unfair.

It's similar to where one player plays a great safety and leave the opponent in a very difficult situation with no route back to the baulk end, and deliberately flicks off of a red and plays to go in off. I think in this situation that the player should try their best to leave the white ball in a safe position, not to play in-off!

Unfair as it may seem, the referee must have decided that Paul played a fair stroke. Therefore, even though the red went off the table, it will not be replaced (Section 3, Rule 3(g)) and it is just 'rub of the green'.

You are only the best on the day you win.

I would have picked up the red and knock it accidentally on his head!

Lol I think it's not deliberate, he just hit and hope for luck-and luck gone for him, even it was unfair. Anyway luck got the best!

I would have to say its a very clever shot, albeit unsporting.

It was a deliberate foul , he told me afterwards it was the only thing he could think of to stop me having a chance of winning the frame .
