JP potted last red followed by pink, he then tried for the yellow but went in off, a foul was called BUT the yellow was respotted? is this correct?

A colour is always respotted when you foul on a colour

If a foul occurs and the colour goes down, then the colour is always re-spotted (apart fom the black)

I assume you mean the yellow was pocketed? If so, and there was a foul, then yes, the yellow should be respotted.

If the yellow remained on the table when the white went in, the yellow should be left where it finished.
