  • Feathering the White and line the angles

i have been playing snooker for around 2 1/2 years, my highest in game break is a 60 something, and in a line up it is 103

The problem is i have so so so much inconsistency, i can play really well on my own, but when it comes to a game i play like i have never picked a cue up before, so fustrating. I have been to two coaches, and they have both told me that i have a very good solid technique and i should be achieveing regular 50+ breaks in games.

I find though that some days i can pick the angles, then the next day i can have the exact same shot and not know the angle. I have tried consistently playing shots i always miss to try and drill it into myself, but this fails to bring results either. I was then told maybe i am not relaxing on my shots and am over thinking everything, so i tried to be a bit more spontaneous with my linement and angle picking, and i played well for the entire day, then it all disappered, and i went back to playing like a 5 yr old. So now i am in the phase where i am spending alot longer down on the shot, feathering alot, and making sure in my mind i am cueing on the write line, so i dont take the shot for granted, but now i feel uncomfortable on the shot, and i feel i am spending to long on the shot, even though i am potting better.

Can anyone explain my inconsistency, i have been asked to play in the wlesh ametur ranks, but i dont fell i am consistent enough

Funny, this post could have been written by myself. I have exactly the same problems with my game. I blame it on lack of practise (almost two weeks since I last played) and lack of experience (started just over one year ago).

I also have a very difficult time trying to find my pace and "spontaneousity". Sometimes I feel that over-carefulness is the way, sometimes I think that I should be a bit more loose in my approach to the shot.

Sorry, I'm not of much help, I'm afraid.

i wish i could say it was lack of practice for me but i play almost everyday, and when i do have a break i come back playing the same. I can play extremely well one day, and then go on a period of bad play for a few weeks, before having another good day. I think i may play with a deliberate slow play, more feathering etc, i played a bit more consistently today and i think it is forcing me to take more time and consideration over my shot. What fustrated me though was that i made a 91 on a line up, but i 4 frames i could not make more than a 17.....
