I think it will be nearer half a million pots.....

Lets say on average a 1st round match averages 15 frames (best of 19)
Second round and Q/Finals average 20 frames (best of 25)
Semi Finals average 25 frames (best of 33)
Final averages 30 (best of 35)

    That means:

    16x 1st round matches = 240 frames
    8x 2nd round matches = 160 frames
    4x Q/F round matches = 80 frames
    2x S/F round matches = 50 frames
FINAL round matche = 30 frames

    TOTAL 560 FRAMES PER CHAMPIONSHIP...

A frame can consist of between 21 and 36 pots... Lets say an average of 25 pots per frame to allow for missed colours and frame concedures (I think this may be on the generous side)...

    560 frames x 25 pots = 14,000 Pots per championship

31 Years of 'The Crucible' = 434,000 pots at 'The Crucible'.

My head hurts, can I go now?

With allowances for older matches played over longer periods this will IMO not excede 500,000

I'm understand your calculation, now i'm find in the fantastic statistic section of this forum the number of point scored in the previous edition: 1,742,291 and i think you are right and i'm lost the bet 3,5 points/ballpotted is a more realistic average than 7!!!
