Changing cloth

Im about to undertake changing my cloth myself and have a fair understanding of what im at but is there any advice anyone can offer as im fair nervous about it the best methods ect. Any help appreciated thanks.

if fitting Hainsworth Precision, have your finger-nails trimmed and filed smooth
(one thing I picked up from GL's comments through the years )
