  • Cue Action Question

I used to get my cue as parallel to the table as possible. Recently, I was told that i should raise my cue a little and make it an an angle because completely parallel risks the chance of me banging my hand against the border of the table. Should the cue be raised a little bit?

Also, I loosen my grip at the start and by the time i strike the cue ball the grip is completely tight. Is this correct? Or should it be loose all the way through.

It should be as parallel as possible without your knuckle hitting the rail.

The grip should be the same all the way through

I wouldn't describe it as loose or tight, I would say the grip should be slightly open at address, quite open on the backswing pause and then close it all the way through the stroke until it completely closes at the end of the follow through.
